CM Sindh Inspects Karachi Mega Projects: Azeempura Flyover to Open on June 15

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah conducted his fifth consecutive Sunday inspection of key infrastructure projects in the metropolis, reviewing progress on the KBRT Red Line mixed traffic corridor, the under-construction Azeempura Flyover, and the recently inaugurated Shahrah-e-Bhutto. During the visit, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Red Line project and directed authorities to expedite the remaining work on the Azeempura Flyover to ensure its formal opening for traffic by June 15.

Azeempura Flyover Progress

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab briefed the Chief Minister at the site regarding the ongoing construction and overall progress. The Mayor also took the CM on an on-site vehicle inspection across the under-construction bridge.

“We are going to inaugurate the Azeempura Flyover on June 15, and it will be opened to the public,” CM Murad Ali Shah announced.

He directed the Project Director to maintain high construction standards while accelerating the pace to minimize public inconvenience. Once operational, the flyover is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion, improve connectivity from Azeempura to the Malir Halt–Korangi Road corridor, and alleviate traffic pressure on Sharea Faisal and adjacent link roads.

Strict Traffic & Security Measures for Shahrah-e-Bhutto

The Chief Minister also visited the newly inaugurated Shahrah-e-Bhutto to review security and traffic management. To ensure public safety and strict traffic discipline, the CM issued immediate directives to the Additional IG Karachi for the deployment of round-the-clock police patrolling across the highway and the establishment of police check posts at every interchange. Furthermore, he ordered strict enforcement of the ban on motorcycle entry, immediate activation of the E-Challan system, and rigid implementation of the 100 km/h speed limit along with mandatory seat belt laws. The Chief Minister explicitly warned that one-way violations on the high-speed corridor would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
