Choco-Tourism: Emirates Passengers Devour 64 Million Premium Chocolates in a Year

Dubai-based Emirates Airline has revealed fascinating data regarding its onboard confectionery consumption, disclosing that its passengers indulged in over 64 million premium chocolates over the past year. This reflects a significant year-on-year increase of approximately 5%, which translates to 4 million more chocolates than the previous year. In addition to individual chocolates, the airline prepares around 26 million chocolate desserts annually to cater to passengers across all travel classes, including Economy, Premium Economy, Business, and First Class.

To maintain this massive scale of hospitality, Emirates loads roughly 750,000 kg of premium chocolates onto its global flights each year, while dedicating an additional 260,000 kg of chocolate solely to crafting diverse onboard desserts. In terms of passenger preferences, while salted caramel remains the reigning favorite flavor, there has been a noticeable surge in the popularity of high-cocoa dark chocolate. Furthermore, the airline meticulously tailors its sweet offerings to suit regional palates; passengers on Middle Eastern routes prefer pistachio-infused chocolates, those on Asian routes favor unique fusions featuring yuzu, matcha, and tropical fruits, while chocolate desserts paired with berries and stone fruits are highly popular across Mediterranean routes. This data highlights how Emirates strategically leverages culinary preferences to elevate the inflight dining experience across different continents.
