KARACHI: Citing severe security risks and potential threats to public safety, a local court has declared the physical appearance of alleged drug dealer Anmol, alias Pinky, at the City Courts “dangerous,” ordering that all upcoming proceedings be conducted inside the jail premises.
The Sessions Judge South, Zahoor Ahmed Hakro, issued the directives following a special request filed by the police. In the application, law enforcement authorities argued that presenting the high-profile suspect at the crowded City Courts could trigger a law-and-order situation. Concurring with the police’s assessment, the court remarked that holding the hearing at the regular venue poses a genuine threat to public safety.
Key Details of the Court Order
Under the newly issued directives, all remand proceedings for the accused will now take place within the Central Jail Karachi complex, and the concerned Judicial Magistrate has been directed to visit the jail complex personally to oversee the process. Furthermore, the court has instructed the relevant magistrates and the Investigation Officer (IO) to ensure immediate compliance with the order.
Background
Anmol, alias Pinky, is currently booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The case, registered as FIR No. 147/2026, was lodged at the Baghdadi Police Station. Meanwhile, in a separate development related to the case, the Darakhshan Police have filed a review petition challenging a previous judicial remand order.
