KARACHI: A massive fire erupted in a carrier truck near Gadap Town on Monday, reducing 74 brand-new motorcycles worth millions of rupees to ashes.
Event Details
The incident took place at approximately 1:20 PM near the Old Sajjad Hotel within the jurisdiction of the Gadap City Police Station. According to SHO Sarfaraz Jatoi, the truck was transporting the motorcycles from Karachi to Multan when the blaze broke out. The destroyed inventory included 71 units of Suzuki GD 110S and 3 units of Suzuki GR 150.
Response and Casualties
The truck driver and company staff, with the assistance of the fire brigade, managed to extinguish the flames. While the truck driver sustained minor injuries during the operation, no fatalities were reported.
Cause of Fire
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was likely caused by a short circuit within the vehicle. Viral videos of the incident circulating on social media show the carrier truck completely engulfed in flames. The relevant company has formally registered a report of the incident at the Gadap City Police Station for further legal proceedings.
