Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has sparked controversy by revealing in a recent interview that she felt deeply distressed and ashamed following the Indian Supreme Court’s 2019 verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi (Ram Mandir) case.
Known for her outspoken views, the 38-year-thold actress shared that she felt the ruling was unjust. Consequently, she reached out to Muslim acquaintances in her contact list including prominent Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Salman Khan, alongside her husband Fahad to personally apologize. She told them that as a Hindu, she was genuinely sorry, embarrassed, and disagreed with the court’s decision.
Her remarks have drawn heavy criticism on social media, with many users accusing her of hurting Hindu sentiments and disrespecting a judicial verdict. To recap, the Supreme Court’s landmark November 2019 ruling awarded the disputed 2.77-acre Ayodhya land for the construction of a Ram temple, while ordering alternative land to be given for a mosque.
