KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani actor Muneeb Butt appeared before a special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in connection with a kidnapping for ransom case. During the hearing, the court accepted his request and extended his interim bail, maintaining his protective relief until the next hearing.
The Allegations and FIR Details
According to details, the case was registered by the Airport Police on April 23, based on a complaint filed by an individual named Mutaal Khan. The First Information Report (FIR) names Muneeb Butt alongside other co-accused.
The complainant alleges that Muneeb Butt, along with his accomplices, allegedly abducted him. Police reports state that the accused then allegedly forced the victim to transfer cryptocurrency worth millions of rupees from his account into their accounts. Following the alleged digital currency transfer, the victim was custody-free and reportedly released in the Korangi area of Karachi.
Current Legal Status
During the court proceedings, Muneeb Butt’s legal counsel submitted a plea for the extension of his interim bail, which the ATC approved.
Current Status: The investigation is currently in its initial stages. The police are conducting further inquiries, and the court has directed the investigation officer to submit a progress report at the next hearing.
