Nationwide Airport Upgrade: Modern Scanning Machines to be Installed at All Airports

KARACHI – In a significant move to bolster aviation security and streamline passenger processing, authorities have decided to install state-of-the-art scanning machines at all airports across the country.

Joint Security Survey Completed

According to sources, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Pakistan Airports Authority, and the Airports Security Force (ASF) have successfully completed a comprehensive survey for this initiative. The project aims to replace outdated equipment with advanced technology to ensure timely scanning of passenger luggage and a more effective overall security system.

A Multi-Billion Rupee Project

This multi-billion rupee project will cover all major and small airports, including Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore. The primary objectives of the upgrade include:

  • Anti-Smuggling: Enhanced detection capabilities to prevent the smuggling of contraband and illegal goods.
  • International Standards: The new machines will comply with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, meeting global security requirements.
  • Efficiency: Faster processing times for luggage, significantly reducing the wait time for passengers.

Collaborative Execution

The CAA and its subsidiary departments, in coordination with the ASF, have accelerated work on the plan. Officials stated that this modernization is a crucial step toward strengthening the nation’s border security while simultaneously improving the travel experience for both domestic and international passengers.
