KARACHI: In a major push against street crime, Karachi Police apprehended seven suspects, including six injured dacoits, during several encounters across the metropolis over the last 24 hours.
Key Operations and Arrests
The operations, conducted in various districts, led to the recovery of illegal arms and stolen property.
- Ferozabad: Police engaged suspects near Hill Park on Shaheed-e-Millat Road. One suspect, identified as Kamran, was arrested in injured condition and shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
- Sachal: An exchange of fire near Saadi Town resulted in the arrest of Abdul Malik (alias Tora). Police recovered a motorcycle, mobile phones, and a pistol from the scene.
- Aziz Bhatti: Two dacoits were intercepted near the Dalmia Road Cement Factory. After a brief shootout, both were taken into custody, with one sustaining gunshot wounds.
Civilian Casualty
During the wave of criminal activity, one citizen was reportedly injured in a firing incident. Police are currently investigating whether the injury was caused by the dacoits’ firing or other circumstances.
Recovery and Investigation
A spokesperson for the Karachi Police confirmed that a total of 7 suspects are now in custody. Recovered items include multiple pistols, ammunition, and a snatched motorcycle. Cases have been registered at the respective police stations, and further investigations are underway to track down their accomplices.
