KARACHI: A major breakthrough has been reported in the investigation of the horrific child abuse case in Karachi’s Mehmoodabad area, where a suspect is accused of assaulting over 100 children.
DNA Evidence Confirmed According to investigation sources, the DNA samples of the prime suspect, Imran, have matched with at least eight of the victims. This forensic evidence significantly strengthens the prosecution’s case. Following this development, authorities have expanded the scope of the ongoing investigation to identify further victims.
Sordid Criminal History The investigation has also uncovered a dark criminal past after police obtained Imran’s record from Punjab. The data reveals that between 2018 and 2023, eight different cases were registered against him in Multan and surrounding areas. These serious charges include child sodomy, abduction, and attempted murder.
Family Background and Current Status Sources indicate that the suspect’s wife left him in 2024 and moved to Faisalabad with their children, though Imran continued to travel between Sindh and Punjab during this period. The suspect is currently in police custody on a four-day physical remand. Authorities are now focusing on identifying potential facilitators and gathering further evidence to ensure a foolproof trial.
