The Board of Directors of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially approved the induction of five new aircraft into its fleet to expand operational capacity and enhance service delivery. Under this plan, PIA will acquire two Boeing 777 aircraft on a six-month wet lease from the European carrier Norse Atlantic, alongside three additional aircraft on a dry lease to further strengthen the national carrier’s operational strength. These newly inducted Boeing aircraft are primarily designated for European and UK flight operations, significantly increasing flight frequencies and capacity on these key routes. Additionally, the board reviewed current aircraft requirements and directed management to expedite the procurement of essential spare parts to maximize fleet availability. The meeting also encompassed discussions on PIA’s overall financial and operational performance, focusing on strategies to stabilize flight operations and improve long-term institutional efficiency.
