KARACHI: Dr. Umar and his family, who were recently found dead in their Ahsanabad apartment, have been laid to rest at the Siddique-e-Akbar Graveyard in the SITE Superhighway Industrial Area. The tragic discovery came to light when neighbors alerted the police via Helpline 15, leading officers to break into the flat where they found the bodies of five family members—including Dr. Umar, his wife Mahek, their eldest daughter Zainab, and two unidentified young children—all located together in a single room.
The funeral prayers were attended by police officials, local citizens, the victim’s brother Abubakar, and his father-in-law Jamshed Iqbal. Meanwhile, post-mortem examinations have been completed at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Medico-legal officers stated that the exact cause of death remains inconclusive and will only be determined following a detailed chemical analysis of forensic samples. Police and family members noted that the bodies appeared to be several days old, and while investigations continue, Dr. Umar’s brother mentioned that they had experienced limited contact due to ongoing family issues.
