KARACHI: The government, in collaboration with NADRA, has streamlined the process for obtaining a Proof of Life Certificate, eliminating the mandatory biannual bank visits for elderly pensioners. Addressing concerns raised by citizens about elderly pensioners—particularly widows—who do not own mobile phones and struggle with biometric verification, NADRA Public Information Officer Syed Shabahat Ali clarified that accessible alternatives are available. Pensioners without mobile phones can easily obtain their certificates by visiting their nearest NADRA office or utilizing any of the newly expanded 12,000 Sahulat franchises (increased from 5,000) located close to their homes. Furthermore, NADRA has emphasized that this Proof of Life Certificate is issued completely free of charge, urging citizens to report any unauthorized fee demands immediately to the NADRA helpline at 1777.
