KARACHI: The judicial inquiry commission investigating the death of businessman Mir Raza has issued its formal written order, revealing severe systemic mistreatment of an online ride-hailing driver (Bakeem/Bykea) who aided the victim’s family. During the proceedings, the commission recorded testimonies from four key witnesses, including DSP Shahrah-e-Faisal and the driver, Ehsanullah. The witness disclosed that following the incident, his motorcycle was confiscated by the ride-hailing management and he was evicted from his residence by his landlord, forcing him to take refuge at the Ferozabad Police Station.
Expressing deep indignation that a helpful witness faced punishment instead of commendation, the commission directed DSP Siraj Lashari to ensure the driver’s vehicle and housing are immediately restored, while securing guarantees from the company and landlord against further harassment. Additionally, the commission issued notices to Ahmad Bharde via the Sindh Board of Revenue to submit Foodpanda payment receipts, and mandated the appearance of SHO Adeel Afzal, Raziq, and Haisam at the next hearing.
