PCB to Reinvestigate Imam-ul-Haq Following Resurface of Fake Injury Inquiry Report

Pakistan batsman Imam-ul-Haq is facing renewed scrutiny from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following a fresh injury claim, which has brought a damning historical inquiry report from March 2025 back into the spotlight. The previous inquiry committee unanimously found Imam responsible for fabricating a toe injury during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand to avoid opening on demanding pitches against the Black Caps. Key findings from the 2025 report revealed contrived symptoms after an X-ray showed no fracture or displacement when he was struck on the right big toe on March 28, 2025, alongside artificial discoloration when team medical staff discovered that the black mark on his toe was actually ink or marker that wiped away easily with a chemically treated paper rather than natural bruising. Furthermore, team officials noted behavioral discrepancies as Imam walked with a noticeable limp under observation but walked normally when out of sight—including walking roughly 500 meters for Iftar against medical advice—leading the committee to reject his denials, label his actions as deliberate, pre-planned, and fraudulent, and recommend a ban across all formats and levels for misleading medical staff to rule himself out of the first One-Day International. With Imam raising a new injury concern in England, sources indicate the PCB will launch a fresh investigation to determine the validity of his latest physical setbacks in light of his past disciplinary record.
