KARACHI: The victims of a recent high-profile violent altercation in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) have officially approached the Sindh High Court. The brother and sister, identified as Noor-ul-Ain and her brother, filed a constitutional petition through their counsel seeking to quash the First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Darakhshan Police Station by the complainant, Maryam Raza.
According to the petition, the registered case is termed false, fabricated, and politically motivated, orchestrated under the influence of powerful individuals following a parking dispute that escalated into violence. The petitioners maintain that they were subjected to aggression and have named the complainant, the SHO of Darakhshan, the investigating officer, SSP Investigation, and the Government of Sindh as respondents.
The legal action follows a widely circulated CCTV footage of the incident, which captured an influential woman—accompanied by uniformed police personnel—physically assaulting another woman. The visual evidence also documented individuals attempting to break a vehicle door and vandalizing external security cameras at the scene. In response to the public outcry and alleged police complicity, the Karachi Police Chief has ordered a fact-finding report regarding the apparent misconduct of the police officers present during the altercation.
