KARACHI: The Pakistan Textile Council (PTC) has formally appealed to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to urgently intervene and resolve the ongoing nationwide goods transporters’ strike, which has severely disrupted the country’s supply chain and export operations. In an official letter addressed to the Prime Minister—with a copy also sent to Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan—PTC Chairman Fawad Anwar highlighted that the strike, ongoing since August 8, has brought the movement of raw materials and export consignments to a near standstill. According to the PTC, imported raw materials remain stranded at the ports, while domestic cotton and other essential inputs are failing to reach manufacturing mills on time. The council warned that smooth and uninterrupted logistics are critical for the survival of the textile and apparel sector, and any prolongation of the current deadlock will result in escalating economic losses with each passing day. Urging immediate state action, the Pakistan Textile Council has requested the Prime Minister to personally step in and bring relevant government authorities and representatives of the transport sector to the negotiating table to reach an immediate resolution.
