KARACHI: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has issued crucial directives for its beneficiaries regarding official mobile SIM cards to ensure transparent and secure financial disbursements. During an e-Katchery session, BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid urged all beneficiaries who have yet to collect their free “Benazir SIM” from a local BISP office—or who are currently using external SIMs—to acquire the official SIM immediately. Beneficiaries are required to visit their nearest BISP office in person, bringing along their original CNIC and a personal mobile phone, and should request the BISP staff to install the official SIM directly into their device during collection.
To ensure digital transaction security, beneficiaries will receive an SMS from the designated bank when funds are transferred to their digital wallet, followed by a confirmation SMS detailing the exact amount transferred and withdrawn, which serves as official proof of payment. For fraud prevention, women are strictly advised never to hand over their mobile phones to agents, as cash withdrawals require only an original CNIC and biometric verification rather than the mobile device itself. Furthermore, beneficiaries should keep their mobile phones and numbers securely in their personal possession at all times to protect sensitive messages and complaints, keeping in mind that all BISP stipends, facilities, and services are completely free of cost.
