K2 Airways Probe: Global Experts Eyed to Solve Deep-Sea Crash Mystery

KARACHI: The Bureau of Aircraft Safety Investigation (BASI) is advancing its probe into the tragic K2 Airways crash that occurred on July 7, when a flight returning from Sharjah to Karachi plunged into the sea near Ormara, tragically involving five crew members. While the investigation team has already completed a thorough review of the aircraft’s operational records and conducted aerial surveys to analyze the plane’s flight path and sudden descent, deep-sea recovery remains a critical challenge. To successfully locate and retrieve the aircraft’s engines, the black box, and the crew members from the ocean floor, authorities are now actively considering enlisting the specialized assistance of international salvage and investigation firms.

The Bureau is currently evaluating international expertise for the deep-sea recovery of the K2 Airways black box and engines, as BASI completes its initial record review and turns to global experts to solve the mystery behind the ocean crash.
