Sindh WWB Approves Historic PKR 65 Billion Surplus Budget for FY 2026-27 with Focus on Labor Welfare

KARACHI: The Governing Body of the Sindh Workers Welfare Board (SWWB), under the chairmanship of the Provincial Minister for Labour, Manpower, and Social Security, Saeed Ghani, has officially approved a monumental surplus budget of PKR 65 billion for the fiscal year 2026-27. This high-level strategic meeting was attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Sindh Assembly Standing Committee on Labour, Sajid Jokhio, Secretary Labour Sajid Jamal Abro, and Secretary WWB Saeed Saleh Jumani, along with governing body members, revenue and finance department representatives, and specially invited labour union advocates.

During the session, the board finalized the financial framework for the upcoming fiscal year, projecting a total revenue inflow of PKR 85,374.00 million against tightly managed total expenditures of PKR 21,101.97 million. The substantial revenue generation is anchored by PKR 15,000 million from the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB), PKR 35,000 million in outstanding WPPF (Workers’ Profit Participation Fund) arrears, and an additional PKR 25,000 million expected to be received from the WPPF through the Sindh High Court, while the board’s internal revenue is estimated at PKR 10,374 million.

On the expenditure side, the board has strategically prioritized resource allocation to maximize the socio-economic upliftment of the workforce. A significant portion of PKR 17,500 million has been dedicated exclusively to labour welfare schemes, followed by PKR 10,094.07 million for infrastructure and development projects, and PKR 7,010.82 million specifically reserved for educational initiatives and skill development for workers’ families. Concluding the session, Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani strongly emphasized the government’s core mission, stating unequivocally that the comprehensive welfare, well-being, and social security of the working class must always remain their absolute and topmost priority.
