KARACHI: In a major structural reform aimed at improving healthcare delivery, the Government of Sindh has handed over the administrative and operational control of all public dispensaries across the province to a government-funded non-governmental organization (NGO). Following an official directive issued by the Sindh Health Department to all District Health Officers (DHOs), the designated NGO will now completely oversee the day-to-day operations, administrative duties, and overall management of these facilities. Consequently, this transition strategically narrows the role of DHOs, shifting their primary focus away from daily dispensary management and restricting it to supervising polio eradication campaigns and essential immunization programs throughout the province.
