The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has set a phenomenal national record by handling over 2.65 million TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) ahead of the closing of the fiscal year 2025-26. This milestone officially positions Karachi Port as the largest container-handling port in Pakistan’s history.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, stated that this achievement reflects growing global and domestic business confidence in Pakistan’s maritime sector. He credited the historic success to the relentless hard work of KPT officers and workers, reaffirming the government’s mission to transform Pakistan into a regional transshipment and logistics hub. Complementing this vision, Chairman KPT Admiral Shahid Ahmed highlighted that strategic port reforms and modernized infrastructure have triggered a significant surge in cargo traffic, emphasizing that Karachi Port continues to play a pivotal role in driving the national economy and boosting maritime trade.
