KARACHI: A woman has filed a formal complaint with the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi, accusing Defense Police Station personnel of short-term kidnapping and extorting money under the guise of false drug allegations.
In her application, the victim stated that police officers initially picked her up from her residence, followed by her fiancé. The couple was detained at the Defense Police Station, where officers falsely accused them of selling cocaine.
According to the complainant, they were later moved from the police station to a private guest house. She identified one of the officers involved as Tayyab, who allegedly harassed her throughout the ordeal. The police personnel demanded a ransom of Rs. 500,000 for their release.
The victim further detailed that the officers kept her detained at the station while forcing her fiancé to return home to arrange the cash. They were only allowed to leave after paying an extortion amount of Rs. 100,000. Upon their release, the police officers threatened them with dire consequences if they reported the incident to anyone.
The victim has appealed to AIG Karachi for justice, demanding strict action against the involved officials and the recovery of their extorted money and valuables.
