KARACHI: Photo-sharing giant Instagram has finally rolled out a highly anticipated feature that allows users to rearrange and reorder their profile grid posts.
With this new update, users can now drag and drop their profile posts into any position they desire, regardless of when the content was originally uploaded.
According to Meta, Instagram’s parent company, the feature is now rolling out to users globally. The tech giant acknowledged the long delay, stating they were aware that users had been waiting for this capability for a long time, but the company wanted to ensure it was implemented flawlessly.
Key Highlights of the New Feature:
Custom Grid Layout: Users can arrange their profile aesthetic exactly how they want, breaking away from the strict chronological order. Pinned Posts Safety: If a user has “pinned” a post to the top of their profile, it will remain locked in place. In the reorder grid screen, these pinned posts will appear blurred and cannot be moved. A Long Journey to Release: The feature was first spotted in 2022 by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, who discovered an “Edit Grid” option hidden within the app’s code.
This official rollout comes roughly a year after Instagram Head Adam Mosseri initially teased that the company was working on the feature. The update is expected to be a game-changer for content creators, brands, and casual users looking to curate a perfect profile aesthetic.
