KARACHI: Armaghan, the central accused in the high-profile Mustafa Aamir murder case, has leveled serious allegations against the prison administration, accusing them of bribery and extortion. The allegations surfaced during a hearing at the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), which was conducting proceedings on six different cases, including the Mustafa Aamir murder.
‘They Charge for Everything’
Speaking before the court, Armaghan claimed that the jail authorities demand money for every single thing, including bringing him to the court hearings. He stated that the jail administration asks for money at every step and they even demand bribes just to present him before the court.
Emotional Courtroom Drama
The situation took an emotional turn when Armaghan’s mother, who was present at the hearing, became overwhelmed with emotion. She questioned her son, asking if they come to meet him out of greed for his money, to which Armaghan clarified that a mother and a lawyer can never be greedy for money. He further clarified a misunderstanding from the previous hearing, explaining that the honorable court had misheard his earlier statement. He emphasized that he had never accused his mother or lawyer of financial greed, but was referring to the jail administration even at that time.
Defense Seeks Case Transfer
During the proceedings, the defense counsel, Khurram Abbas Advocate, requested the court to issue an official order regarding the application filed for transferring his client’s cases. Subsequently, the Anti-Terrorism Court adjourned the hearing of all cases against Armaghan until June 9.
