KARACHI: The Israeli Navy has intercepted the Gaza-bound ‘Global Sumoud Flotilla’ and detained its activists, including Saad Edhi, the son of Edhi Foundation Chief Faisal Edhi.
According to details, Saad Edhi had departed for Gaza from Marmaris, Turkiye, on May 14 as part of the “Freedom Flotilla” humanitarian mission.
In a previously recorded video message, Saad Edhi shared that the Global Sumoud Flotilla carried over 500 activists from various countries, with the mission expected to be completed within 6 to 7 days.
He emphasized that the sole objective of the Global Sumoud Flotilla and the Edhi Foundation was to deliver crucial humanitarian aid to the affected population in Gaza. However, four days into the journey, on May 18, the Israeli Navy intercepted the aid convoy and took the activists into custody, including Saad Edhi.
