KARACHI: A high-level, round-the-clock security apparatus has been deployed at the Baghdadi Police Station following the arrest of a notorious female drug suspect, Anmol alias Pinky. According to an official order issued by the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South, the security inside and outside the police station’s lockup has been placed on high alert to thwart any untoward incidents.
Heavy Deployment and Shifts
A dedicated contingent of 40 personnel—including one Superintendent of Police (SP), two Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), and three Station House Officers (SHOs)—has been mobilized. The security duties have been divided into two 12-hour shifts where Shift 1 will run from 08:00 AM to 08:00 PM and Shift 2 will run from 08:00 PM to 08:00 AM. The directive strictly mandates the 24-hour presence of female police officers to monitor the suspect.
Snipers and CCTV Surveillance
The security plan incorporates stringent surveillance measures including moment-by-moment CCTV monitoring of the lockup and its surrounding areas. Sharpshooters and snipers have been deployed on the rooftops overlooking the police station, while bulletproof jackets have been provided for all on-duty personnel. Furthermore, only authorized individuals are permitted access to the suspect during her detention.
Court Transit and Operational Command
The SSP South has ordered foolproof security arrangements for when the suspect is transported to court. Special mobile squads will escort the police vehicle during transit. The operational responsibilities have been distributed among senior officers where the SP Lyari Sub-Division will oversee the court transit operation, the SDPO Baghdadi and SDPO Risala will command the mobile squads, and the SHOs of Baghdadi, Risala, and Garden will act as ground in-charges to manage the perimeter.
Emergency Measures
To prevent any lapses, entry and exit points around the Baghdadi Police Station have been reinforced with additional force. Immediate Response Teams (IRTs) have been put on standby to counter any emergency, and personnel have been instructed to report any suspicious activity instantly. Furthermore, the suspect’s food is being thoroughly screened before delivery, and a backup generator has been kept operational at all times to ensure uninterrupted power supply and CCTV coverage. The SSP South warned that any negligence or shortage of personnel will face strict disciplinary action.
