KARACHI – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has revealed that no formal discussions have taken place with his party regarding the proposed 28th Constitutional Amendment. Speaking to the media on Friday, the PPP Chairman clarified the party’s current stance on legislative and economic matters.
Constitutional Amendments: Bilawal stated that since the government has not yet engaged the PPP on the 28th Amendment, it is premature to comment on the future course of action or the party’s support in Parliament.
Budget Negotiations: To address the upcoming federal budget, a four-member PPP team has been formed. This committee is tasked with presenting the party’s economic proposals and addressing specific reservations during negotiations with the federal government.
Political Leverage: The Chairman emphasized that the government cannot pass the national budget or any constitutional amendment without the crucial support of the PPP.
“Serious steps are required to steer the country out of the ongoing economic crisis. The government must take the PPP into confidence if it seeks a smooth passage for the budget,” Bilawal asserted.
Expressing deep concern over the country’s economic stability, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari warned that the federal government faces tough challenges ahead. He maintained that the PPP’s role remains central to any major legislative or fiscal decision in the current assembly.
