KARACHI – In a major move against illegal activities, the Karachi South Zone Police have intensified their crackdown on unauthorized sheesha cafes and guest houses involved in “immoral activities” across the city’s upscale neighborhoods. During a series of coordinated raids based on intelligence reports, police targeted multiple locations in Clifton, Boat Basin, Darakhshan, and Gizri areas of Defense Housing Authority (DHA).
The operation resulted in the arrest of 23 suspects, while a large quantity of sheesha hookahs, various flavors, and related equipment were confiscated and taken into custody. In Clifton Block 5, the Boat Basin police apprehended 3 suspects and recovered 7 hookahs. Joint efforts by the Clifton and Darakhshan police led to the arrest of 9 individuals involved in operating illegal cafes. Furthermore, operations by the Gizri and Darakhshan police against guest houses resulted in 11 arrests, comprising 7 men and 4 women.
According to police officials, one of the detained women was allegedly involved in the supply of ‘Ice’ (Crystal Meth) at private dance parties. Cases have been registered against all accused individuals, and further investigations are underway to uncover broader networks involved in these illegal operations.
