SP’s Son Shoots FBR Inspector Over Minor Traffic Dispute in Clifton

KARACHI : In a disturbing display of lawlessness, the son of a senior Sindh Police officer allegedly shot and critically injured a Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) inspector following a minor road accident in Karachi’s Clifton area late Wednesday night.

The Incident

The altercation occurred between 1:30 AM and 2:00 AM in Clifton Block 9. According to police officials, the dispute began when the side mirrors of two vehicles—a white double-cabin pickup bearing registration plate SPD-970 and the victim’s car—scraped against each other while turning. The occupant of the white pickup, identified as Agha Shaheer Pathan, son of a Sindh Police Superintendent (SP), reportedly became enraged and opened fire on the other vehicle with the intent to kill.

The Victims

The injured has been identified as Shah Mir, an inspector at the FBR. He sustained three gunshot wounds to his leg, hip, and abdomen and was rushed to a private hospital for emergency treatment. His brother, Shahzeb, who was driving the car, also sustained injuries after being struck with a gun butt during the assault.

Police Action and Investigation

The Clifton Police Station has registered a case against Agha Shaheer Pathan and his security guard on the complaint of Shahzeb. The FIR includes charges of attempted murder and other relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.

“We were just turning when the cars touched. They didn’t just fire shots; they hit us with gun butts too. My brother is in the hospital fighting for his life,” Shahzeb stated in his police complaint.

The primary suspect, Agha Shaheer Pathan, fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Police authorities have launched a formal investigation and are conducting raids to apprehend the accused.
