CM Murad Directs Accelerated Wheat Procurement, Sets Target at 973,900 Metric Tons

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah chaired a high-level meeting to review the provincial wheat procurement policy, emphasizing the need to prioritize small-scale farmers and streamline the buying process. During the session, the Chief Minister issued strict directives to activate procurement centers across all districts immediately. He stressed that the government must ensure timely payments to growers, particularly those receiving subsidies.

Key Highlights of the Procurement Policy: The total procurement target has been set at 973,900 Metric Tons with a support price of Rs. 3,500 per 40 kg. The primary focus remains on facilitating small growers and ensuring provincial food security.

Zero Tolerance for Delays CM Shah warned that any sluggishness in the procurement drive would not be tolerated. He directed officials to maintain a vigilant eye on market trends and take stern action against hoarding and the illegal movement of wheat.

“Agriculture is our priority sector,” the Chief Minister stated. “We are committed to protecting the interests of our Haris (farmers) and will take every necessary step to ensure the province’s food security.”

The meeting concluded with a directive to provide special assistance to underperforming districts to ensure the overall provincial target is met efficiently.
