KARACHI: In a major blow to international smuggling networks, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and partner institutions have seized a massive cache of foreign liquor during a joint intelligence-based operation in the Arabian Sea.
The Operation The raid was conducted through a collaborative effort involving the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), Pakistan Navy, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), and Joint Maritime Information Coordination Center (JMICC). According to a PMSA spokesperson, the teams intercepted a “stateless” boat in the open sea. Upon a thorough search, officials discovered 4,000 bottles of high-end foreign liquor hidden within the vessel.
Value and Impact An ANF spokesperson confirmed that the seized contraband is valued at over Rs 200 million in the international market. Officials described the seizure as a significant setback for smuggling syndicates operating within the region.
Next Steps The success of the mission is being attributed to seamless real-time coordination and timely intelligence sharing between the maritime and narcotics control agencies.
