KARACHI: In a bid to conserve energy and implement a provincial austerity policy, the Government of Sindh has issued a notification strictly limiting business hours across the province with immediate effect. According to the official notification, these measures are aimed at reducing fuel consumption and managing the ongoing energy crisis. The new schedule varies by region and sector as follows:
Markets and Shopping Malls In Divisional Headquarters, all shops, markets, and malls are permitted to remain open until 9:00 PM. Meanwhile, in all other districts, businesses must close by 8:00 PM throughout the week.
Dining and Celebrations Restaurants and food outlets are allowed to operate between 7:00 PM and 11:30 PM, though it is specified that no restrictions apply to home delivery or takeaway services. Additionally, marriage halls and banquets are permitted to operate from 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM (midnight).
Essential Services (Exempted) To ensure public convenience, several sectors remain exempt from these restrictions. These include medical stores, hospitals, laboratories, petrol pumps, milk shops, bakeries, and tandoors.

Implementation The notification explicitly directs Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict compliance with these timings within their respective jurisdictions, with the assistance of the Sindh Police.
