KARACHI: The Constitutional Bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) expressed strong displeasure with the Federal Interior Secretary for failing to comply with court orders regarding the removal of a citizen’s name from the blacklist.
According to details, the court issued a stern warning, stating that if the petitioner’s name is not removed from the blacklist within one week, bailable arrest warrants will be issued for the Federal Interior Secretary.
During the proceedings, Justice Adnan-ul-Karim remarked that the court is currently refraining from issuing warrants only due to the personal assurance provided by Deputy Attorney General Khaliq Ahmed.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that Interior Secretary Captain (Rtd) Khurram Agha has consistently ignored judicial orders and failed to submit a formal response to the court’s notice.
Background: The court had previously ordered the Ministry of Interior to remove the name of Muhammad Irfan, an overseas Pakistani, from the blacklist. The case has been adjourned for one week, giving the ministry a final deadline to implement the court’s directives.
