KARACHI – Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah has officially announced the commencement of the new academic year across the province starting April 1st. Along with the new session, the provincial government has introduced a major change to the school schedule.
Key Highlights of the Announcement: Following the decision of the Steering Committee, the academic year has formally begun today, April 1, 2026. In a move toward austerity and energy conservation, all schools across Sindh will now observe two holidays per week (Saturday and Sunday). The Education Minister clarified that the Saturday holiday policy will remain in effect until further notice or a subsequent government decree.
Minister’s Message In his message to the academic community, Syed Sardar Ali Shah extended his best wishes to students, parents, and teachers. He emphasized that the success of the new year relies on the combined hard work of teachers and the enthusiasm of students.
“The decision for two weekly holidays has been taken as part of the Sindh Education Department’s austerity measures,” the Minister stated, adding that he hopes for a productive year ahead for the province’s educational sector.
