KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi has approved the bail applications of 30 Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) workers arrested during a protest and subsequent rioting outside the Sindh Assembly. The court ordered the accused to submit surety bonds of Rs. 30,000 each for their release. During the proceedings, Advocate Tahir represented the JI workers.
The suspects were previously sent to jail on judicial remand following their arrest. According to the police, the workers were taken into custody on Saturday night for attempting to enter the Red Zone during a sit-in. A case was registered against them at the Aram Bagh Police Station on charges of rioting and violation of security protocols.
The court has clarified that the release of the suspects is now contingent upon the formal submission of the required surety bonds.
