KARACHI – The FIA Immigration at Jinnah International Airport has intercepted and arrested a family attempting to smuggle commercial goods to Saudi Arabia and Dubai while traveling on Umrah visas. According to FIA officials, the group—consisting of seven individuals, including women—was caught during a targeted operation. Upon inspection, the authorities found that the passengers were carrying a significant quantity of prohibited commercial items instead of standard travel luggage.
Officials seized 75 bundles of cigarettes and 45 packets of tobacco during the search. The investigation revealed that the suspects failed to provide mandatory travel documents, including valid hotel bookings or the required foreign currency for their stay. During initial questioning, the suspects confessed that they were transporting these commercial goods for financial gain.
A spokesperson for the FIA stated that the arrested individuals have been handed over to the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle for further legal proceedings and a detailed investigation into the smuggling network.
