KARACHI – Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced a significant update to the province’s transport regulations, stating that no vehicle will be permitted to ply the roads without a mandatory computerized fitness certificate. Speaking on the modernization of the transport sector, the minister emphasized that the entire motor vehicle system in Sindh has been fully digitized. This move aims to ensure road safety and transparency in vehicle inspections, and operating a vehicle without this certification is now strictly prohibited.
Regarding emergency services, Minister Memon shared that following directives from the Health Department, clear instructions have been issued regarding the use of sirens and emergency lights. Sirens are only to be used while responding to a call or transporting a patient to the hospital to avoid misuse.
The minister also provided an update on public transport, confirming that the Sindh government is actively procuring new buses. Some units have already arrived at the port, while the provincial cabinet has recently approved the purchase of an additional 500 buses. He reiterated that providing safe, modern, and efficient transport facilities to every citizen remains the top priority of the Sindh government.
