KARACHI: The Met Office has predicted moderate to light rainfall coupled with thunderstorms and gusty winds for the provincial capital today, between afternoon and evening. This weather shift is expected to significantly intensify the cold wave across the city. A new system of western winds has already begun influencing the city’s weather, with wind speeds recorded at 40 km/h and expected to surge between 50 to 55 km/h throughout the day. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), this spell is likely to persist until Thursday.
The rain-bearing system is currently moving towards western Sindh. Over the next three hours, rainfall is expected in several districts including Dadu, Jamshoro, Qambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, Hyderabad, and surrounding areas.
While the minimum temperature today was recorded at 13.5°C, a sharper drop is anticipated starting tomorrow. As cold winds from Balochistan grip the region, temperatures are expected to plummet to between 7°C and 9°C. Today’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 21°C and 23°C, a notable decrease from yesterday’s 27.1°C. Morning humidity was recorded at 84% with visibility limited to 2 km due to fog. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the sudden wind gusts and the upcoming drop in temperature.
