KARACHI – A solemn return from a funeral turned into a scene of tragedy when a speeding water tanker crushed two motorcyclists near the Manghopir Police Station, leaving one dead and another seriously injured.
The Details According to SHO Manghopir, Khush Nawaz, the victims were identified as 55-year-old Abdul Wahid and 45-year-old Saleh Muhammad. Residents of Ongi Goth and close friends, the duo was heading home after attending a funeral prayer when the heavy vehicle overran them.
Victim Profile The deceased, Abdul Wahid, was a retired employee of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB). While Wahid lost his life on the spot, his friend Saleh Muhammad is currently battling injuries at a local hospital.
Law Enforcement Action Manghopir police acted swiftly to arrest the driver, identified as Tariq, and impounded the water tanker. The body of the deceased was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities. “A formal investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the driver’s negligence,” the SHO stated.
