KARACHI: The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, arrived in Karachi today for a high-profile three-day visit. While he was formally received by the Sindh government, the arrival was marred by intense mismanagement and physical altercations between PTI workers.
Official Reception
Senior Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani received the KP Chief Minister at the airport on behalf of the Sindh Cabinet. Following the local tradition of hospitality, Saeed Ghani presented Sohail Afridi with the traditional Sindhi Ajrak and Topi.
Chaotic Scenes at the Airport
A massive crowd of PTI supporters gathered at the airport to welcome their leader. However, the situation quickly turned chaotic as severe mismanagement was witnessed. At one point, tensions boiled over, leading to a physical brawl among PTI workers.
Three-Day Itinerary: From Rallies to Meetings
Before leaving Islamabad, CM Sohail Afridi stated he was carrying the “message of the founding chairman” to Sindh. His busy schedule includes:
- Day 1 (Friday): A rally from the airport to Insaf House, followed by a “Meet the Press” session at the Karachi Press Club and a visit to Bagh-e-Jinnah. He is also expected to participate in “Street Movements” in District South, Malir, and Korangi, and meet imprisoned party workers.
- Saturday: A rally to Hyderabad to address the Hyderabad Bar and Press Club, followed by an ISF convention and meetings with local dignitaries.
- Sunday: Engagements with the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF), senior lawyers, and the All City Traders Alliance. He will also visit Mazar-e-Quaid and meet with MWM leadership.
- Monday: A meeting with the Chief Minister of Sindh is scheduled, followed by an address to the Sindh High Court Bar Association before his departure to Peshawar.
Key Event
The visit’s highlight is expected to be a massive public gathering (Jalsa) scheduled at Mazar-e-Quaid on January 11.
