KARACHI – In a bizarre turn of events, a citizen in Karachi has received an electronic traffic fine (E-Challan) for a motorcycle that was stolen from him over two years ago.
The Incident According to details, the citizen’s motorcycle was stolen on December 7, 2023, from the Liaquatabad area. Despite a First Information Report (FIR) being registered at the time, the police were unable to recover the vehicle.
The Surprise Fine The owner remained without his bike for two years, only to be shocked on December 28, 2025, when he received an E-Challan notification. The fine was issued for a traffic violation—specifically for riding without a helmet—near the National Stadium Flyover.
The automated system captured the license plate of the stolen vehicle, confirming that the motorcycle is still being used openly on the streets of Karachi.
Citizen’s Appeal The frustrated owner has reached out to the police authorities, pointing out the irony that the traffic cameras could “find” his bike for a fine, yet the law enforcement agencies have failed to recover it. He has urged the Karachi Police to use the location and time data from the E-Challan to track down the culprits and return his property.
