KARACHI / LAHORE / PESHAWAR: In prestigious ceremonies held at the Governor Houses of Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, numerous personalities were honored with Presidential Civil Awards for their outstanding contributions to various fields, including music, sports, journalism, and public service.
Ceremony at Governor House Lahore
Governor Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, on behalf of the President of Pakistan, conferred awards upon 81 individuals. Sitara-i-Imtiaz was conferred upon renowned actress Samina Peerzada, Hadiqa Kiani, Irfan Khoosat, Humaira Arshad, Saira Naseem, Salima Hashmi, and cricketer Haider Ali. Tamgha-i-Imtiaz recipients included journalists Muhammad Arshad Ansari and Beenish Saleem, as well as Sara Bilal and Dr. Arfa Syeda (posthumous). The Presidential Award for Pride of Performance was awarded to Prof. Dr. Lubna Zaheer, Muhammad Azam Khan (Music), and Zulqarnain Haider (Acting), while Tamgha-i-Shujaat was awarded to Isa Khan and Adnan Farooq Qureshi (Shaheed) for their bravery.
Ceremony at Governor House Peshawar
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, conferred civil awards upon 33 personalities of the province. Former women’s cricket captain Sana Mir was honored with Sitara-i-Imtiaz for her services to sports, alongside Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Arshad Majeed, journalist Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, and Rehan Zeb Shaheed (posthumous). Eleven individuals, including DSP Pir Syed Khan and ASI Saleh Muhammad, received the Tamgha-i-Shujaat for gallantry. Furthermore, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz was awarded to 12 personalities, including squash player Muhammad Hamza Khan and journalist Mona Alam.
Ceremony at Governor House Karachi
Governor Sindh, Nihal Hashmi, acting on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, honored prominent figures at a ceremony attended by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Sitara-i-Imtiaz was awarded to 12 individuals, including actresses Fazila Qazi and Sawera Nadeem, Senator Sarmad Ali, Engineer Rukhsana Zuberi, and Ashraf Habibullah. Tamgha-i-Imtiaz was conferred upon 13 personalities, including journalist Kiran Naz, Javed Rais, and Abid Lashari for their social and professional services. Mukhtiar Naz Taj Mastani was presented with the Pride of Performance award for her artistic contributions.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Sindh emphasized that these national honors are a testament to the state’s recognition of the invaluable services rendered by these individuals for the country.
