Pakistan Navy Rescues 18 Foreign Crew Members in North Arabian Sea

KARACHI: In a swift and successful humanitarian operation, the Pakistan Navy rescued 18 crew members from a merchant vessel stranded in the North Arabian Sea, officials confirmed on Monday.

The Operation

The rescue mission was initiated after the Pakistan Navy received an emergency distress call from a merchant ship located approximately 200 nautical miles (370 kilometers) off the Pakistani coast. Responding to the call for help, the Navy dispatched assets to the location to ensure the safety of the crew.

Nationalities of the Rescued

The rescued individuals comprise a diverse group of international seafarers, including nationals from China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Safe Transit and Medical Care

Following the successful extraction, all 18 crew members were safely transported to Karachi. According to a Pakistan Navy spokesperson, the rescued individuals are being provided with necessary medical assistance and food. Arrangements for their repatriation to their respective home countries are currently underway.

“The Pakistan Navy remains committed to maintaining a presence in the region to ensure the safety of sea lanes and to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to mariners in distress,” the spokesperson stated.

This operation further highlights the Pakistan Navy’s professional excellence and its ongoing commitment to international maritime safety and humanitarian obligations.
