KARACHI: Reports of an upcoming television drama based on the life of Anmol alias Pinky—a suspected drug dealer who recently dominated social media trends—have sparked a fresh wave of debate online.
According to unverified reports circulating on social media, a prominent private channel’s production house is allegedly developing a project centered around Anmol Pinky. It is claimed that acclaimed actress Saba Qamar has been approached or cast to play the titular lead role.
The Origin of the Rumors
The speculation gained momentum after a photograph surfaced online showing Saba Qamar alongside renowned television producers Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi. Social media claims suggest that the project is slated to go into production soon, with prominent journalist Shahzeb Khanzada being named as the scriptwriter.
However, Karachi Fact clarifies that no official announcement has been made by the actress, the production house, or the journalist regarding the development of any such project.
Public Backlash and Criticism
The rumors have drawn significant criticism from a section of social media users, who argue that dramatizing the life of an individual whose legal case is still sub judice (under trial in court) is inappropriate and ethically questionable.
Other critics questioned the industry’s priorities, asking why production houses are focusing on controversial figures rather than creating biographical dramas on Pakistan’s iconic historical and literary women, such as Fatima Jinnah, Bano Qudsia, or Dr. Arfa Sayeda.
Fans Defend the Potential Project
Conversely, fans of Saba Qamar have expressed immense excitement over the potential project. Supporters argue that given Qamar’s proven track record of handling intense, complex, and unconventional roles with nuance, she would deliver a powerful performance that could turn the drama into a major success.
