MUMBAI/KARACHI – The much-hyped release of the Bollywood film Border 2, widely criticized for its anti-Pakistan propaganda, faced a major setback today as its initial screenings were cancelled across India due to significant technical delays.
Fans Left Stranded The sequel to the 1997 hit Border, starring Sunny Deol, was scheduled for a grand theatrical rollout this morning. However, fans across various Indian cities were met with locked cinema doors. Reports indicate that exhibitors were forced to scrap shows scheduled for 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM, leaving crowds waiting for hours.
Technical Glitches and Content Delays According to trade analysts and Indian media reports, the film’s final cut was not ready until late Thursday night. UFO Movies, the primary content provider for Indian theaters, notified cinema owners that the digital files would be available much later than expected. In a message sent to exhibitors, it was revealed that the content download only began at 6:30 AM. Since the film has a massive runtime of 192 minutes (3 hours and 12 minutes), the processing and ingestion of such a large file takes approximately 4 hours before a screening can commence.
About the Film Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 features an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty alongside Sunny Deol. The plot once again revisits the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Notably, original cast members Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty, and Sudesh Berry reportedly appear in cameos through the use of digital de-aging technology.
While the delay is currently being attributed to technical logistics, the last-minute cancellation has sparked intense discussion on social media regarding the management of the high-budget project.
