KARACHI: Veteran Pakistani actor Faysal Quraishi, a powerhouse of the drama industry for over three decades, has addressed his absence from the civil honors list with his trademark wit and a touch of satire. During a recent interview, when asked if he expected to receive the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) soon, the actor responded with a humorous anecdote that has since gone viral on social media.
The ‘Imtiaz’ Store Quip Taking a playful jab at the situation, Quraishi joked that he is considering standing outside a local “Imtiaz Super Store” to tell people he simply “can’t find his star.”
Twice Nominated, Never Approved Beyond the jokes, the actor revealed a surprising fact: his name has been formally recommended for the prestigious civil award twice in the past. Despite his 33-year-long career and immense contribution to Pakistani television, both nominations failed to receive final approval from the authorities. When the host pressed him on what might be “missing” from his portfolio that prevents him from getting the award, Quraishi quipped that maybe he has a calcium deficiency, and that’s why he isn’t getting the award.
Fans’ Support and Patriotism The actor shared that his loyal fanbase has been actively sending recommendations for him to receive the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. Addressing his public image, Quraishi clarified that he does not view himself as a political figure but rather as a “patriotic citizen.” He concluded by saying that while he isn’t chasing titles, if the government ever decides to honor him with the award, he would accept it with gratitude.
