KARACHI: The General Body of the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) Dastoor has unanimously approved the extension of its current executive body’s tenure until the upcoming elections and the formation of a new leadership cabinet. The decision was made during a general body meeting held at the Karachi Press Club, chaired by KUJ Dastoor President Nasrullah Chaudhry, with prominent journalistic figures in attendance. During the meeting, KUJ Dastoor Secretary Rehan Khan Chishti presented the annual performance report, which received strong appreciation from the members. Due to unavoidable delays in holding the elections originally set for May 2026, a formal resolution was passed allowing the incumbent body to continue its operations. The assembly lauded the leadership’s efforts toward journalists’ rights and commended the Karachi Press Club’s executive body for successfully executing the computerized balloting for 639 Hawksbee plots for KPC members. Furthermore, discussions focused on media workers’ economic challenges, family welfare programs, training workshops, and the distribution of official membership letters to new inductees, concluding with a renewed pledge to foster unity and cooperation among journalistic bodies to safeguard the media community’s collective interests.
