KARACHI: Karachi Police have successfully identified the tortured body found inside a plastic drum near the Sohrab Goth Superhighway Bus Terminal. Through advanced biometric verification, the deceased was identified as thirty-six-year-old Alam Zeb, a resident of Korangi who worked as an office peon near Tariq Road. According to Sohrab Goth DSP Aurangzeb Khattak, the victim had been missing since Sunday night, during which his mobile phone remained powered off, leading up to the grim discovery of his body on Tuesday. Following the identification, the police registered a formal case based on the complaint of the victim’s brother.
In a major breakthrough, investigators utilized CCTV footage from the area to trace the registration number of the Suzuki pickup used to dump the drum. This lead allowed the police to quickly locate the vehicle, impound it, and take the driver into custody. During the initial interrogation, the driver claimed he was stationed near Kati Pahari when two unidentified men approached him to transport the drum to the Sohrab Goth Bus Terminal. After agreeing on the fare, the men loaded the drum onto his vehicle, accompanied him to the destination, and departed after paying him.
Currently, the police are treating the driver’s statement as a critical lead and have launched an active manhunt to track down and arrest the two prime suspects who originally hired the vehicle.
