Sharjeel Memon Slams MQM over ‘Shortcut Politics’ and Federal Interference Demands

Senior Sindh Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon heavily criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) following a press conference by MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar, accusing the party of relying on “shortcut politics” and political blackmail instead of earning a genuine public mandate. Memon strongly rejected MQM’s demand to hand over Sindh’s affairs to the center, labeling it a malicious conspiracy against the 1973 Constitution and the country’s federal structure, while firmly asserting that Sindh is not a laboratory for struggling political parties to experiment with.

Defending his party’s position, the minister emphasized that the people of Sindh have given a clear and unshakeable mandate to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which cannot be altered by press conferences, threats, or political bargaining. He further questioned MQM’s performance, asking why the party has failed to deliver on its promises for Karachi despite being a key stakeholder in the federal government. Advising Dr. Farooq Sattar to question his own federal allies rather than shifting the blame onto the Sindh government, Memon concluded that there will be absolutely no compromise on provincial autonomy or the constitutional rights of Sindh’s residents, reaffirming the provincial government’s unwavering commitment to development and constitutional supremacy.
