KARACHI: Pakistan’s corporate sector achieved historic milestones during the fiscal year 2025-26, demonstrating robust economic momentum. According to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), 43,559 new companies were registered, marking a 24% increase compared to the previous fiscal year and pushing the total number of registered companies in the country to 301,615. A remarkable monthly record was also set in June alone with 4,323 new registrations, which stands as the highest ever recorded in a single month, while public sector company registrations witnessed a significant 25% growth.
The corporate expansion was visible nationwide, with Punjab leading the volume by registering 22,364 new companies, followed by Sindh with 6,691, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 3,820, Gilgit-Baltistan with 1,585, and Balochistan with 759 new registrations. In terms of growth percentage, Gilgit-Baltistan led the country with an exceptional 65% surge, while Balochistan also showed an impressive 36% growth rate. From a sectoral perspective, the trading sector dominated the market by accounting for 41% of all newly registered companies, reflecting a sharp and promising rise in domestic commercial activities.
Pakistan’s corporate landscape attracted significant international interest during FY25-26, as foreign investors registered 1,014 new companies with a total paid-up capital of PKR 2.5 billion. This international capital heavily targeted high-growth sectors, specifically trading, mining, and information technology. While China remained the leading contributor in setting up these new businesses, Pakistan also secured notable investments from global players, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, and Spain, further diversifying the country’s corporate landscape.
